Sony Music strengthens its foothold in the Baltics as Sony Music Baltics opens a new office in the cultural central Telliskivi, Tallinn in August 2021 and presents a new team of professionals focussing on catering to local talent.

Bert Prikenfeld has joined the team as an A&R, Baltics in May 2021. Bert Prikenfeld is a household name in the Estonian music industry and is a renowned producer (aka Bert On Beats) and an artist (aka DJ Critikal). Bert has been recognized as the Producer of the Year four times in the Estonian Music Business Awards. Said Bert Prikenfeld: “Sony Music’s expansion in the Baltics will definitely be a big opportunity to raise exciting talent to the next level. I see a lot of possibilities for local artists, songwriters and producers to co-operate with talent here and abroad. This as a whole adds value to the local music business ecosystem and we are all excited.”

Irene Kivi is starting as Marketing Manager, Local & International Repertoire in August 2021. Irene Kivi, a well-known music journalist in Estonia, is joining Sony Music from Sky Media where she has been leading the growth of Sky.ee portal to become the biggest entertainment and music news portal in Estonia. Sky.ee has been awarded as Media of the Year three times in a row and has given a unique platform for Estonian artists to be seen and heard. Said Irene Kivi: “I have been working with Sony Music and its artists for years by now and I am beyond excited and happy to raise the bar on the local market and work with local artists in this amazing new team. I am confident that we can build something unique and powerful from this.”

Sony Music has also started a co-operation with Wavy Music and its CEO Karl Tamm has joined the team as Project Manager. Despite his young age, Karl Tamm has already been building interesting artist brands in Estonia, such as Pluuto, villemdrillem and Heleza. He has the taste and eye for future talent and has proven to be on the right path in the Estonian music business. Said Karl Tamm: “Forming a co-operation with Sony Music is the next big step for me and Wavy Music artists. I believe this partnership is going to be successful because we both truly want to improve the Estonian rap scene and Sony has enough resources and know-how from the Finnish market to achieve our goals. I am really excited to be part of this amazing team.”

Co-operation with Wavy Music is a continuation to Sony Music’s partnership strategy. Made In Baltics headed by Toomas Olljum and Sony Music formed a strong alliance in 2018 and the partnership is taking next steps as Sony Music and Made In Baltics are moving in the new office together in August 2021.
